The iPhone has proven its worth in several ways. One of them has been the ability to keep children fruitfully occupied. The touch screen makes interactivity simple and easy and the applications available are varied. You can choose from a range fun-based or learning based activities.

The Preschool Storybook Piano (version 1.2) is an entertaining application. It uses visual aids to help your child learn how to play the piano. It comes in various modes so as not too become boring for a child. you have the Play and Sing mode, Learn the song, Karaoke, Freestyle and others. In Learn the Song mode, a start button will bring up a keyboard. When a song is being played, the keys used will get highlighted thus telling your child which keys bring out which sound. In each of the modes, there are several keyboard sounds to choose from allowing your child to customize the application to his heart’s content. There are several pre-set sounds that will allow your child to enhance his music creation ability. What makes this application all the more interesting is that it is available in English, Spanish and French as well. All of this for $0.99

Another game that has been introduced for possibly teens and youngsters is the Doodle Dare HD (version 1.0). This little application brings the game of truth or dare to any place you choose. All you need to do is fill in the details of the number of people playing the game. Rules state that the youngest of the lot begins. The application will spin a bottle for you and give you the option to go for the truth or dare. The questions can get a bit raunchy so adults will have to check its use by youngsters. Similarly, the dares are equally notorious. Overall the fame provides for a lot of entertainment at $2.99

The Smarty Shortz 1st (1.0.0.236) Grade is an application for 1st graders. It is educational and comes with categories such as spelling, math, reading, science, geography, history. Each category has four mini lessons. If you complete them, you get to play a game. The only criticism of this game is that there is no help menu when it comes to the individual categories and you may end up wasting time trying to figure it out.
